BioSciences Graduate Program Overview
BioSciences faculty participate in one or more of three separate research-based graduate programs, the Biochemistry & Cell Biology Graduate Program, the Ecology & Evolutionary Biology Graduate Program, and the Systems, Synthetic & Physical Biology Graduate Program. The BioSciences at Rice Ph.D. programs provide rigorous graduate training tailored to the scientific background, interests, and needs of each student. Our programs build a strong foundation in academics coupled with the development of critical thought and independence, to ensure competitive preparation for a future research career.
Most students complete their formal course work in the first year; degree requirements and details about the structure of the graduate programs can be found under the program-specific menus at the left. Students wishing to pursue an academic career have the option to obtain experience in undergraduate teaching and mentoring, in addition to training in scientific research.
